Vitamin E Repairs Muscles
Easy Health Options Staff | Feb 08, 2012 | Comments 3
Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant that helps eliminate destructive byproducts in the body. And now research at the Georgia Health Sciences University shows that the body
also uses vitamin E to facilitate the repair of tears in muscle tissue.
The body uses vitamin E in the cell membranes of muscles to keep free radicals (caustic molecules) from attacking. The latest research also shows that it can keep phospholipids, a major component of membranes, in better shape to aid in healing muscle damage. The researchers believe that vitamin E can be particularly helpful for people with diabetes, helping their muscles recover from injury exacerbated by high levels of blood sugar. This has been shown to be possible in lab tests but has not yet been proven in human tissue.
